And this will be reported on Windows 8 as well as WP8.

WP8 will give you the opportunity to share information between phones and other Windows devices. So, Microsoft's version of Android Beam, it appears.

WP8 will also support in-app purchasing.

Native Code, Multitasking improvements, new speech platform, and focus on developers will now be covered.

First off, Native Code. WP8 will support native C and C++.
It enables hardware acceleration through Direct3D.

Win8 and WP8 have a shared native API set. The same set of APIs on both platforms, based on a shared C++ component. Devs don't have to change code.

They have also ported the SQLite engine over to the two platforms.

For incoming Skype calls, you get the same exact UI as the regular phone app.

Compatibility: Wp7 apps will run on WP8.
WP7 and 8 apps will be compiled in the cloud.
Visual Studio 2012 will support Win8 and WP8 apps, as well as WP7.5.

devs can choose out of three techs: XAML with C# and Visual Basic, Native C++ code and HTML5.

For apps, MS recommends XAML. For games, go for Direct3D with C++ / C code. Last but not least, if websites are your thing, you should optimize for IE10 and design for mobile screen sizes.

But wait, there's more! Windows Phone 7.8 is the new upgrade path for legacy devices.
WP7.8 appears to take advantage of the new Start screen.
